Watt good news – Winter’s has a new owner!

The following news comes direct from Colin Winter (formerly) Winter’s Camera Centre, Burnie:

I am delighted to announce that during the past two weeks I have had successful discussions and negotiations with a new owner and the business will continue from the same location under the new name of Watt’s Camera Centre, and the ownership of Rob and Robyn Watt.

Rob will be well known to many Coasters as the current advertising manager of The Advocate newspaper. Rob is no stranger to the photographic industry, as prior to coming to Tasmania from New Zealand six years ago, Rob owned and operated his own camera store for 15 years, a minilab in two locations for eight years, as well as working as a professional photographer. Rob is very much a ‘people’s person’ and is looking forward to assisting past, current and new customers, and he will be supported by some of Winter’s current staff. So the only change is the words after the W – Winter’s to Watt’s!

Following the article in The Advocate about my retirement and the subsequent closure of Winter’s, I have been overwhelmed by the letters, cards, flowers, congratulations and good wishes for my retirement, but also the comments of sadness and the shock of the closure and the end of an era of 103 continuous years of service, and that there will be no photographic store in Burnie.

So many customers have been asking where will they go to get Passports, prints from slides, film processing, prints from prints, photos to canvas framing, and photo restoration, plus all the digital services we offer and much, much more that is not available elsewhere, plus having quality photos printed on Kodak paper from our store.

It is also about product knowledge and knowing that there will be after-sales service and backup following a purchase. I would like to thank our wonderful customers who have supported our business over many years; this support has been very much appreciated. A huge thank you also to our fabulous staff over the decades. We have enjoyed a tremendous ‘family’-type relationship, and their dedication to working as a team and providing exceptional customer service has been second to none.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Rob and his wife Robyn and extend my very best wishes to them for continued success in the business.

Sincerely,
Colin Winter

And a note from new owner, Rob Watt:

We are proud to been able to keep this iconic store going having purchased it from Colin. I too have had many years in this industry and look forward to a continuation of the excellent service Colin and his family have offered for 103 years.

Thanks,

Rob and Robyn Watt.
