Just encase – Lowepro announces new camera, lens protection

January 5, 2011: Maxwell International is first cab off the rank with 2011 new product announcements – in the form of a new Quick Case series of camera cases and a family of protective lens cases.

The Quick Case series ‘fit like a glove’ and is similar in design to traditional leather camera cases, but with added protection. Quick Case cases envelop a camera in a tough, impact-resistant shell that opens smoothly and quickly.

A built-in leash tethers to the camera’s carrying strap, securing the case to the camera. To shoot, the photographer simply pulls open the back flap and raises the camera; the case remains suspended below.
A strong magnetic closure ensures easy, instant and secure access, plus self-adjusts to fit a variety of camera models. There’s an interior pouch to store the lens cap when the camera is is in use.

A discreet zippered accessory pocket provides storage for spare memory cards and batteries.

On the exterior, impact-resistant hybrid nylon and leather provide durable protection from bumps and abrasion. On the interior, thick padding with soft lining safeguards the fragile LCD screen and lens from scratches and dust.

The Quick Case series is available in two sizes in black: the Quick Case 100 fits an ultra-zoom camera with a fixed lens attached, or a compact interchangeable lens camera. RRP $49.

The Quick Case 120 will house a DSLR with a standard kit lens. RRP $59.

Lowepro has also announced a series of lens cases, featuring thick, one-piece foam padding to provide superior, all-over protection for fragile glass and mounts.

Lowepro’s OverLap Zipper construction safeguards a lens from dust and moisture. A SlipLock attachment tab with hook/loop fasteners secures the case to a compatible bag, loop or belt – such as the Deluxe Technical Belt, part of the new S&F (‘sports and field’) system.

Dual zippers provide easy access to the case, and when a lens is in use, you can store its cap in the convenient mesh pocket located inside the lid.

There are seven models in the range, with RRPs from $36 to $79.
