The New Camera House in Lismore, owned and managed by Jon Paterson, has been devastated by floods for the second time in five years.
Back in 2017 Jon and his team, with plenty of help from industry friends and supporting businesses, were back in business in a matter of a week or so. They managed to carry the bulk of the stock and equipment up to the first floor of the Keen Street store, where it remained safe and dry. This year floodwaters were a full 2 metres higher, destroying everything.
Flood insurance is not available in the Lismore area.
Camere House head office, in the person of Stewart Pickersgill, has organised a GoFundMe page to help towards the recovery of Jon’s 23-year-old photo specialty business.
‘Jon is facing a $1 million bill to cover a new fit-out of his shop and replace lost stock and equipment,’Stewart wrote on the GoFundMe page.
