Pringo seeking stockists…Lucidiom offers marketing packages…Firmware update for Fujifilm X-E2

Pringo seeking stockists
Pringo_--(PINK)-300x257APE Distribution, which recently launched Pringo, ‘the world’s best portable WiFi printer’, has a pre-Mothers Day special of a 50 percent discount on the printers, down from $198 to just $99. The special offer ends May 9.

Possibly of more interest to Photo Counter readers is that APE Distribution is currently seeking stockists for Pringo printers and consummables. Pringo is being supported by a social network-based marketing program targetted at young women.

‘It’s the kind of product that potential customers really want to touch and feel, and check out the quality of the output,’ said John Ackfield, APE Distribution. ‘It’s doing nicely online, but in-store, especially in the hands of knowledgeable photo specialty staff, I believe it will really take off,’ he said. ‘And then there’s great repeat business for the paper packs.’

Call John Ackfield on tel:1300 727 906 or 0411 518195 (john@auppp.com.au) for more details.

Major firmware update for Fujifilm X-E2
Fujifilm has issued a firmware update for its X-E2, which improves response times, adds options for function buttons and provides expands peaking colour options.

Firmware Ver. 2.00 reduces display lag time for the X-E2’s electronic viewfinder (EVF). It also enhances the frame rate of the viewfinder to ensure the highest frame rate is maintained even in low light conditions or night-time photography, providing smooth live view images through the lens.

The new firmware also adds the ability to select Blue or Red in addition to the original White for the Focus Peak Highlight function, which highlights areas of strong contrast to provide a focusing aid. The strength of the colour display can be also adjusted between High and Low according to the type of subject or personal preference.

Users can now assign the Face Detection and EVF/LCD Setting selection options to two function buttons and two customisable AE/AF buttons in shooting mode. When set to EVF/LCD Setting, the button is used to switch between four modes, including Eye Sensor Mode (automatically switches the EVF and LCD displays when the user’s eye comes close to the viewfinder), EVF Only, LCD Only and EVF Only + Eye Sensor.

Once the firmware is updated, a Suppressed Flash mode (where the flash does not fire even when the subject is poorly lit) can be selected from the flash menu. The new firmware also fixes a FILM SIMULATION Bracketing issue that caused the third frame to be recorded as ASTIA despite the camera being set to record it as PRO Neg. Hi. The new X-E2 firmware is available now and can be downloaded at http://www.fujifilm.com/support/digital_cameras/software/.
