The international photo specialist’s conference, IPIC 2023 has moved this year from its traditional home in Las Vegas (where IPI head office is located) to Fort Worth, Texas.
The downtown Omni Fort Worth Hotel is the venue, with IPI securing conference-goers a US$169 hotel room rate (down from around US$250), and the conference will take place from July 9-13.
Conference-goers arrive on Sunday, with the following two days dedicated to an intense series of education and workshop sessions, with some great evening excursions organised to iconic Fort Worth venues such as ‘the world’s largest honky tonk’ – Billy Bob’s Texas.
A tour of The Print Refinery at Fort Worth Camera is also on the agenda. The Print Refinery is IPI’s licensed imaging business concept, incorporating a range of B2B and B2C photo output-focussed profit centres, supported by IPI marketing collateral and business partners.
Wednesday is Trade Show day, with a grand dinner organised for the evening.
As usual, the smorgasbord of seminars, workshops and lectures reflect the latest trends and issues in the photo specialist sector. This year there’s a strand of ‘Profitable Hack’ sessions, ranging from sublimation services, to using staff as consultants to generate income, to fine art reproduction, to metal and acrylic printing. IPI’s local affiliate Independent Photographic Supplies will be attending, along with leading Australian photo specialists such as Louise Miller (Griffith Camera House); Phil and Will Gresham (Fotofast, Brisbane); Stephen Perris (Byron Photo Magic); Alan and Catherine Logue (Hutt Street Photo, Adelaide); and Mark Stallard (Stallard’s Camera House, Tas).

Late booking/registration still available
Registration officially closed last Friday but there is still some ‘wriggle room’ for local retailers interested in attending. At this stage, IPI suggests: ‘Book now before our rate is no longer available! IPI rate from June 4 to 16 is US$169/night (plus 19 percent taxes/fees) before June 16, subject to availability.
