Picpress picked as winner

April 14, 2010: Melbourne-based photo book maker Picpresshas once again taken out major prizes at the printing industry’s National Print Awards, held in Darling Harbour.

Picpress won the prestigious ‘Major Sponsors Award’ in the category of ‘Innovation in Print’ and the Gold award in the category of ‘Limited Edition Printing’.

The double win is validation for Picpress, which was nominated up against printing rivals, some of whom have been operating for over 100 years.

The company believes its success is due to one notable difference – Picpress’s origins are with the photographic processing industry, not the print industry.

Picpress was founded by four of the major professional photographic processing laboratories in Australia; RGB Digital, Nulab, Street’s Imaging, and Atkins Technicolour. The four professional printing labs have a combined total of 170 years’ experience in the photographic industry. Although they are competitors in their field, each decided that the print industry was lacking in photo book and press product production that met their perfectionist standards.

Picpress, operating out of Nulab’s Melbourne colour lab, fine-tuned an HP Indigo digital press to produce press products of professional photographic quality, and installed high quality binding equipment to provide a complete in-house service.

Picpress prints, binds, and delivers professional quality digital books, calendars, cards and variable data promotional products.
