Panasonic announces digital signage screens

Panasonic Australia has joined Samsung in launching an affordable range of retail digital signage systems, with LED screens from 43-inch through to 65-inch.

lfe8_mainReleased immediately is the ‘ entry-level’ (350 candela per sq metre – a measure of luminance) LFE8 series, starting at a Full HD 43-inches (RRP $1399). A more robust and brighter (500 candela per sq metre) LF8 series will be launched in September (no pricing supplied).

‘They are designed for clear viewing in a range of lighting situations, and offer outstanding reliability over many hours of operation,’ said Chris Maw, product marketing manager, panels and projectors, Panasonic. ‘Digital signage provides a powerful and immediate way to communicate. These panels support this with versatile playback for a variety of formats, as well as attracting and engaging customers with multi-screen video wall configurations.’

The LFE8 series has a LED backlight for high picture quality and low energy usage. Displays can be configured in 5 x 5 multi-screen videowalls by zoom in function and feature a bezel width of 7.5mm, portrait mode capability, and USB cloning.

To reduce cabling complexity and eliminate the need for set-top boxes, Panasonic has added a ‘Simple Signage Player’ for all displays that can decode a variety of video formats from USB memory devices. Together with a 5V outlet to power USB PCs and external media players, LAN, RS232C, IR in/out, and HDMI, a self-contained digital signage system is simple to set up and manage. Both models include 10W + 10W internal speakers.

The LF8 series feature robust IPS panel technology for off-axis visibility and excellent resistance to image burn-in, and is engineered for continuous 24/7 operation. It offers a bezel width of just 6.5 mm, depth of less than 60mm, daisy-chain capability via DVI-D for up to 10 displays, and USB cloning. Quick Failover and Failback automatically detects and switches to an alternative input if the video signal to the primary input is interrupted.
