IPS trade show hits the road

Independent Photo (IPS) kicks off its 2014 Australian and New Zealand series of roadshows next Monday, August 4 in Auckland with a series of presentations by Dakis principal, Patrice Hugron from Canada; a comprehensive trade show; and exclusive show specials.
The Kodak 100 will feature in the tradeshow component of the IPS roadhow, and one will be given away as a 'door prize' at each of the seven venues.
The Kodak Tablet Kiosk 100 will feature in the trade show component of the IPS roadhow, and one will be given away as a ‘door prize’ at each of the seven venues.

IPS will also be giving away a state-of-the-art, smartphone-friendly Kodak Wi-Fi Tablet Kiosk 100 and printer valued at around $3000 (+GST) at each of the seven roadshow venues.

‘As usual, IPS NZ has an excellent roll up commitment from Kiwi photo specialty lab owners, with over 100 committed attendees,’ said IPS managing director, Stuart Holmes. ‘Great job done by our New Zealand business managers, Brian Kearney, Sam Omar and Graham Mears!’ he added.

The New Zealand schedule is as follows:
AUCKLAND: Monday August 4; Rydges Hotel, Kingston room 3 & 4
WELLINGTON: Wednesday, August 6; Abel Tasman Hotel
CHRISTCHURCH: Friday, August 8; Rydges Hotel, Claredon Room. .

Bookings are essential, so email to reserve a place.

These one-day sessions will run from 9am through to 8pm, starting with a series of presentations from Pat Hugron with an emphasis on the new V3 online and ‘app-free’ mobile features of Dakis photo services software. This will be followed by invaluable (but free) 30 minute, one-one-one consultation sessions through the day with Mr Hugron, where attendees can ask about online ordering, what makes an online store work, creating their own templates – in fact anything they wanted to know about running an online photo business (but were afraid to ask…)

PatThe individual sessions with Patrice Hugron (pictured right) – one of the world’s leading authorities on all aspects of photo services software – were a highlight of the IPI Conference in Las Vegas in June, and are now available in Australia and New Zealand exclusively to IPS roadshow attendees.

‘IPS and Dakis have built a very constructive and positive relationship over the course of the past few years,’ said Philippe Hugron, CEO and owner of Dakis Inc (and brother of Patrice). ‘We find that IPS has shown a lot of leadership and vision by finding and gathering the best solutions from around the world in order to build and offer a complete turnkey offering and business model for independent photo and camera stores.

‘This has translated into more independents becoming successful and many more on their way to growing success. At Dakis we haven’t experienced the golden film days but we certainly are seeing a growing number of retailers reliving these golden days with digital and personalised high margin imaging products.’

The trade show will be running simultaneously, with loads of show specials. A comprehensive portfolio of IPS products will be showcased, ranging from online & kiosk solutions; wide format media; event photography; turn-key marketing programs; print from smartphone; and minilab.

greenFeature products and equipment include the latest Noritsu QSS Green duplex drylab; Dakis touch screen kiosks featuring the new Version 3 software; the new Kodak G4-XLII widescreen Wi-Fi Kiosk and 6850 dye sub printer; along with the Kodak Duplex DL2100 photobook & greeting card printer.

‘Also on centre-stage will be the latest Kodak Wi-Fi Tablet Smartphone printing kiosk and 305 Dye Sub Printer for unleashing images off consumers’ iPhone or Android smartphones simply and effectively, putting the fun back into photo printing!’ said Mr Holmes.

‘And of course one visitor at each of the venues will win one of these Kodak units just for attending.’

The Australian leg of the roadshow will feature two-day sessions in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

‘The Australian IPS Roadshow attendances across the country look excellent, with a wide section of Camera House owners and key staff committed to attend, along with Kodak Express store owners, other non-aligned independents and professional labs,’ said Mr Holmes.

The format for the first day will be similar to the New Zealand events, with the second day comprising one-one-one sessions with Pat Hugron throughout the day complemented by the trade show.

Very much looking forward to get out to NZ / AU and meet local imaging retailers. Have been emailing / skyp-ing / phoning many of you over the years so it will be great to put faces to voices.

Some of my sessions will focus on Dakis products with hands on training and some sessions on general online marketing / mobile marketing with lots of real world examples and points of action to take home with you and apply to your current software.

We have a real winner on our hands with the new V3 kiosk and WebApp photo factory / mobile ordering. Early retailer reviews are great and I can’t wait to share those with all of you.

We haven’t looked back since going Dakis in 2009, before IPS probably knew they existed, with both our website and online ordering. Then came along the kiosk software that we only used for the 1000’s of gifting products we offer. The ability to make your own templates and products yourself is something the others do not offer despite some saying they would for years.

Now the V3 kiosk which we have just for mobile devices it is lightening fast, loading 2700 images from my iPhone in a couple of minutes, seems faster than a card. No app is required (how many of your customers don’t know their iTunes account details) and it actually shows folders, customers love it.

We look forward to seeing what IPS has and congratulate them for the foresight of getting onboard with both IPS and Dakis. Now all in Oz and NZ have the tools to compete with the big box guys, with fast personal service and unique non price sensitive products.

We look forward to having a beer with Pat and Laura in BrizVegas.
