Head On Photo Festival calls for 2023 exhibitions

Sydney’s Head On Photo Festival is calling for exhibition submissions for the 2023 festival, set to run in November.

Submissions are open until Sunday, March 19, and all photographers from around the world at any stage of their career are welcome to enter.

‘We welcome submissions from individual artists, curators, groups and exhibition spaces/galleries, Australian and international. Work can be recent or not – are you sitting on a treasure trove of past images?

‘We believe all photo-artists need a fair chance to show their work, therefore, all the proposals received by Head On are selected without the artists’ names or pedigrees. This ensures that all photographs selected by Head On are chosen on merit alone.’

The Head On Photo Festival is Australia’s leading annual celebration of photography, and features a hybrid of in-person and online exhibitions, workshops and events. It’s a great platform for emerging photographers to have their work shown alongside seasoned veterans, and the festival review team curates a program that covers all corners of photography.

The 2022 Head On Photo Festival showcased work by over 500 photographers in 107 exhibitions and installations in Bondi and the Paddington Reservoir Gardens. The program included work by photographers such as Andrew Rovenko, Alain Shroeder, Ilana Rose, Thea Trubenbacher, Stephen Dupont, Tim Page, Roger Grasas, Chris Bekos, Chris Round, Rachel Portesi, Judith Nangala Crispin, Brian Cassey and others.

Exhibitions in last year’s Featured Program appeared at two major public venues, the Bondi Beach Promenade and Paddington Reservoir Gardens.

Submissions fee costs $20. Click here for more info.
