The long-awaited Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm f/5.0-6.3 IS super-zoom (200-800mm 35mm equivalent) will be available from late August with an Australian RRP of $2299.
The new lens is dustproof and splashproof and Olympus claims it has the same build quality as its premium PRO series. Close focusing is 1.3 metres across the zoom range, with maximum magnification of 0.57x at the 400mm end. A Focus Limit switch reduces the zoom range for faster autofocus. It has in-lens image stabilisation, which will complement the Olympus OM 5-axis body image stabilisation. It also works with the Olympus Focus Stacking function for maximum depth of field.
It’s relatively compact and light for such a long lens, with an overall length of 205.7mm and weight of 1.12Kg.
Filter size is 72mm. It comes with a cylindrical lens hood and tripod mount. Accessories include 1.4x and 2x teleconverters and a sight framing assistant.
