Head On Photo Awards calls for entries

Photographers around the world are invited to enter the 2020 Head On Photo Awards, which has over $70,000 in cash and prizes across three categories – Portrait, Landscape and Student. Entries close February 16.

The winner of the Portrait and Landscape categories will both be awarded $15,000 in cold hard cash. The Head On Portrait Prize winner also receives a Fujifilm GFX50 R medium format camera with a GF50mm f3.5 lens, while the Landscape Prize winners receives a Fujifilm A7R IV with 24mm f1.4 lens.

The two winners also receive a raft of other goodies and benefits, and runner-ups will also win premium Fujifilm and Sony gear. This year has the biggest prize pool in the event’s history. The other major benefit of entering is that all finalists will appear in a centrepiece exhibition at the 2020 Head On Photo Festival in Sydney, one of the world’s finest photography festivals.

Past finalist exhibitions have also toured Photoville in New York, Indian Photo Festival, Auckland Festival of Photography in New Zealand, and Pingyao International Photography Festival in China.

The Head On judging panel includes imaging experts and professionals, who use an anonymous judging system to ensure each work is selected solely on its merit, rather than the celebrity of the photographer. This selection process naturally ensures the finalist images are diverse and represent photographers and subjects from a wide range of backgrounds.

The Student awards are only open to K-12 Australian student photographers.
