Brisbane is taking a deep dive into the wonderful world of professional photo books this weekend with a series of events at the The Maud Street Photo Gallery revolving around an exhibition of winners from the ANZ Photobook Awards on Saturday, September 3, starting at 12.30pm and open, free-of-charge, to all.

(Photo book fans can actually rock up on Friday between 5.30 and 8pm for an earlier viewing.)
The complementary events include The All Photobook Pop-up Shop, an all-day event on Saturday starting at 10.30, which will include a talk from Momento Pro marketing manager, Libby Jeffery and a demonstration of how to make a photo book with Momento Pro software . This is also a free event, but attendees need to book a seat.
There is also the opportunity for individual, one-on-one photo book reviews with two of Australia’s experts in the practice and theory of making photo books, Doug Spowart and Victoria Cooper. These sessions are by appointment over the weekend and attract a $50 charge.
Finally, on the Sunday there’s a full-day workshop led by Victoria and Doug addressing the challenge of choosing and sequencing images for a photo book to create a compelling narrative. Attendees will create a dummy photo book during the workshop. It costs $125 and runs from 10am to 3.30pm.
The Maud Street Photo Gallery is at 6 Maud Street, Newstead.
