INSIDE IMAGING is our shiny new website and free weekly newsletter for the Australian photo industry, including professionals and engaged enthusiasts, distributors, manufacturers and retailers.
It consolidates the editorial concerns of our two previous websites, PhotoCounter and ProCounter, and provides a continuing link to years of valuable, searchable content from those publications of record of the Australian photographic industry.
There is no other photography-oriented website like it in Australia, perhaps the world: We aim to bridge both sides of the photo sales counter with our mix of news, opinion, reviews, classified ads and research. We believe that photo industry businesses and customers are in this thing together – with more shared interests than conventional specialist publishing assumes.
Inside Imaging aims to inform and educate its readership with timely, independent, and relevant local and international content that offers insights into new photographic technology, trends and industry events.
In addition we offer readers free MARKETPLACE section where readers can list their own classified ads, as well as a comprehensive listing of educational organisations across Australia offering courses and tours in photography.
Reader input is valued and encouraged. We believe a well-supported website thrives on an two-way exchange with and among readers. Inside Imaging also features regular contributions from photo industry leaders.
Like many operations in the Australian photographic industry, Inside Imaging is a family business. The editorial team comprises co-publishers Keith Shipton, Australia’s most experienced and respected photo industry journalist and co-publisher/editor Will Shipton (above right) who has paid his dues after attaining a degree in journalism with four years in the editor’s chair at Inside Imaging’s predecessor, pro website ProCounter. Here he pioneered a new style of business writing for Australian professional photographers tackling complex subjects like copyright and new business opportunities.
Inside Imaging distinguishes itself from other photo websites by being carefully curated. We don’t regurgitate. We do not slap down any old rubbish as it arrives in the email in-tray from PR consultants who know little about the industry. We sort the wheat from the chaff so you don’t have to.
