Olympus has opened an Olympus Live ‘experience centre’ in its premises at Macquarie Park, Sydney, featuring a professional photographic studio, a ‘Camera Experience Zone’ and a camera repair facility.
The studio features a cyclorama and a full studio flash setup, and Olympus is partnering with the AIPP to conduct events there for professional photographers. Macquarie Park is located near the huge Macquarie Centre shopping mall and Macquarie University and conveniently located between the western and northern suburbs of Sydney.
Olympus Live Sydney is designed specifically for Olympus customers to access technology and undertake education in a purpose-built environment, according to the Olympus press release.
‘Part of the plan is to introduce retail partners to the space – offering the facility for them to host events along with Olympus,’ explained Olympus marketing manager, Kristie Galea. She said it would also be an ideal venue for staff training, briefings on new releases and the like.
This is the third such centre – the others being located in Melbourne and Auckland – but the Sydney iteration is far more photographically um, focussed. Olympus is a major company in medical and scientific imaging as well as photography, and the Melbourne and Auckland customer centres are more involved in that part of the Olympus business.

Olympus Live in Sydney will also include an integrated medical suite with state-of-the-art surgical and endoscopy equipment, a scientific and industrial laboratory complete with Olympus’ latest microscopes and industrial technology, and an endoscope cleaning room.
‘Having access to a unique and innovative offering is a big advantage for our customers and something that we hope differentiates us as a provider,’ said Jason Borg, Consumer Division Manager.
‘We have creative and visionary customers. We want this centre to help them realise their full potential with our products,’ said Jason.
Olympus Live Sydney is now operational ahead of an official launch planned this month.
