The Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) has announced Sony as an official trade partner and Platinum Sponsor of Lenscape 2018, May 5-6, 2018.
Lenscape is the new name for the annual professional photography conference, established by the AIPP in 2010. It will be held at Sea World Resort & Water Park at the Gold Coast, Queensland, at a recently opened ‘state of the art’ conference centre.
A trade show will accompany the event. The World Photographic Cup will also be hosted as a part of the two-day conference.
This year, the Australian Professional Photography Awards (APPAs) will run as a standalone event at the Melbourne Park Function Centre, August 25-27 (platinum sponsors EON and Olympus), with Lenscape the next AIPP national conference.

‘The conference, which will run from Saturday, 5 May to Sunday, 6 May 2018, has been carefully crafted to suit photographers of all experience and expertise levels. Lenscape has been created to suit the budding photographer, the experienced entrepreneur and “social bunnies” alike.’
The conference, formerly The Nikon Event, has been rebranded as Lenscape due to the AIPP’s new ‘non exclusivity’ policy for event sponsorship. This resulted in Nikon withdrawing naming rights-level support while maintaining a sponsor relationship with the professional photographers association. Prior to that there was a somewhat acrimonious withdrawal by Canon as the APPA naming rights sponsor in early 2016. Canon is now conspicuous among the larger ‘professional-facing’ (just made that one up!) businesses not listed as an AIPP. Since the split with Canon, the AIPP has attracted a larger pool of non-exclusive sponsors, ensuring its independence.
