Korean lensmaker Samyang Optics has announced its third autofocus lens – the AF 35mm F2.8 FE for Sony full-frame E-mount cameras.
Samyang has a broad range of affordable manual focus lenses and has more recently begun to offer more popular AF optics. The new 35mm lens joins the AF 14mm F2.8 FE and AF 50mm F1.4 FE lenses for Sony E-mounts cameras.
It weighs just 85g and measures 3.3cm in length (without the hood and rear cap). Build is seven elements in six groups, with two aspherical lenses and one high refractive lens plus Ultra Multi Coating to minimise aberration and unnecessary light dispersion. It has a minimum focusing distance of 0.35m and is ideal for street, portrait and close focus photography.
Samyang says the new lens is designed to work with full frame Sony E-mounts lenses as well as APS-C format Sony E-mount cameras in the Alpha 6000 and 5000 series at 52mm focal length.
The Samyang AF 35mm F2.8 FE lens will be available from July, with a suggested retail price from local distributor, Maxxum, of $499
