Get in the frame at Randwick

The Art & Frame 2017 exhibition will take place this month (August 11- 14) at Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse, with participation from several photo retailing suppliers.

Royal Randwick Racecourse will host Art & Frame 2017 from August 11-14.

Art & Frame is a long-running biennial event alternating between Melbourne and Sydney and includes seminars by local and international experts. This year it will have a strong focus on digital art reproduction.

‘Catering to the diverse field of “digital fine arts” by offering a digital imaging service in combination with custom framing presents enormous growth potential and opportunities in areas such as creative arts, photography, decorative art, interior design, and home decor,’ the Art & Frame website states.

Epson is major sponsor and will be at the event with a showcase of equipment, techniques and materials. One of the themes this year is expanding into digital imaging services.

There are also two sessions focused on Digital Imaging in the seminar program, sponsored by Epson and Kayell.

Other exhibitors include Giclee, Starleaton, Megawood and the PPFA.

‘The fine art and professional photographic sectors are growing strongly for us,’ said Starleaton CEO Ben Eaton. ‘Since our acquisition of DES, we have added the world’s best archival art papers to our range including Hahnemühle, Awagami, Breathing Color, ChromaJet and Innova. These brands have expanded our existing offering of Neschen framing tapes, laminating films and mounting adhesives.

‘On top of this, we are one of Epson’s leading resellers backed by a team of knowledgeable experts in colour management and art-photo reproduction techniques. A little know fact is that Zünd – our top brand of Swiss-made cutting tables – offers passepartout matt cutting tools for fast and accurate framing matts.

‘Also on display will be some of the latest lamination technology from Flexa, Italy.

‘Starleaton extends a warm welcome to all visitors to their stand.’

Online registration in advance is free, while the 3-day seminar program, at $100 for an ‘All Seminar’ pass, represents great value and has plenty to offer anyone interested in improving their framing or digital printing skills, or retailing tactics.

The event is held in the Kensington Room, Grandstand Ground Level, Royal Randwick Racecourse, Alison Road, Randwick, NSW from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 August. Hours are 10am – 5pm daily except Sunday when the show closes at 4pm.
