Canon announces EOS M100

Canon Australia has announced the EOS M100 mirrorless, a replacement for the two-year-old M10.

It has a DIGIC 7 processor; a 25,600 ISO, 24-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor; dual pixel CMOS focusing; a 3-inch, 180 degree screen; 1080p 60p video; and combination three-axis IS.

Here’s a feature list:
Video Mode: Record Full HD 1080/60p video or time-lapse movies, or use Hybrid Auto to pull still frames from HD video recording;
Continuous Shooting: Up to 4 frames-per-second continuous shooting; up to 6.1 with fixed AF;
ISO Range: 100-25,600;
In-Camera RAW Conversion;
Self-Portrait Mode:
 Using the 180-degree tilt of the LCD screen – adjust brightness, focus and Smooth Skin functions;
HDR Backlight Control: Shoot three images with different exposures to help correct scenes that are backlit or show differences in contrast;
Bulb exposure: Continue shooting after the shutter button is released for light painting or capturing fireworks;
Creative Filters: Grainy Film, Art Bold, Fish-eye Effect and more.

Oh yes – it also has a selection of camera jackets (example pictured right) in a variety of colours to complement the basic black body.

The Canon EOS M100 is scheduled to be available in Australia in black in October. No local pricing. US prices are US$599.99 with the EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens and US$949.99 with EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens and EF-M 55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens.

So Canon might be looking at around $899 locally for the camera with kit lens.

The US press release also mentioned that the EOS EF-M Mount Adapter is currently available for a suggested retail price of US$199.99.

As the local press release was exceptionally uninformative (hardly any of the above detail is included) we have listed the US release for those interested: Canon EOS M100 August
