Leica M-P for $34K

In an announcement which has approximately zero business relevance to most of PhotoCounter’s readership but is big on the ‘gee whizz’ factor, Leica has announced a kit consisting a titanium version of the 24-megapixel full-frame Leica M-P with titanium-finished Leica Summicron-M 28 mm f2 and Leica APO-Summicron-M 50 mm f2 at a local RRP of $34,000.

Object of desire: The titanium Leica M-P kit.
Object of desire: The Leica M-P Titanium Set

The extra dosh for the ‘Leica M-P Titanium Set’ will get you a camera which is 90 grams lighter owing to the top deck, the baseplate and the control elements being machined from solid – but lightweight – titanium. Body trim is in full grain leather with outstanding grip and a matching leather carrying strap.(Amazingly, the normal $10K version of the M-P has synthetic leather trim – which seems a bit tight.) The kits will be limited to 333 units globally.

Other features of this special edition are the Leica script engraved on the top plate and a special edition serial number on the accessory shoe. Both lenses feature a special serial number.

The special edition kit will be available from October. Suggest Leica PR shoots a copy of this press release to Orthodontists Monthly – sure to get a run!
