New consumer tech show for Sydney

A consumer technology exhibition, New-Tech ’15, featuring cameras and photographic gear, is planned for Sydney Olympic Park, Friday July 31 – Sunday, August 2.

Halls 5 and 6 of the Sydney Showground complex.

New-Tech ’15 is an initiative of UK-based event organiser The Chester Group, which defines itself as ‘specialising in the field of high performance home entertainment and electronics shows’. Other events managed by Chester include the New York and Vancouver Audio Shows, and a Golf show and Wellness show in the UK.

It is represented in Australia by Jim and Di Preece, who have been associated with specialist magazines for several decades, currently with the Next Media group, as well as managing audio/hi-fi shows.

The show will take place in the 4000 sq metre Hall 5 of the Sydney Showground exhibition hall complex, which is the events precinct at Sydney Olympic Park in Homebush and home to the Royal Easter Show. It will be organised in zones, such as the Photo & Imaging Zone, InCar Zone, Home Entertainment Zone, Audio Zone.

Admission will be charged for entry, and exhibitors will be able to sell products from the exhibition stands.

Camera House is promoted on the New-Tech ’15 website as a participant in the show, which was confirmed by Jim Preece. Sony also has an exhibition stand in which it will showcase products from a range of lifestyle categories. He added that there were several other photographic wholesalers and retailers interested in participating, either in combination or individually.

NewTechThe event has so far flown ‘under the radar’ with no launch announcements or other marketing communications (at least to the photographic industry), but it will be well-supported in the Next Media stable of specialist magazines such as Camera, ProPhoto, Sound & Image and PC Powerplay.

New-Tech ’15 also has a ‘partnership’ with National Science Week (August 15-23), ‘Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology’.

New-Tech ’15 is in no way associated with The Digital Show, which will be held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from October 16 – 18 under the management of photographic wholesaler association, IDEA.
