The European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) has announced the winners of its annual ‘best products’ competition for 2015-16.
The EISA Awards are chosen annually by a bunch of European photo magazine writers. They compete with the Technical Imaging Press Association (TIPA) awards which are judged by another bunch of photo magazine writers. Both sets of awards are pretty well meaningless, but generate activity among the winning products’ PR consultancies which justify their fat retainers by banging out press releases in which the word ‘prestigious’ takes a hammering.
The awards are made much of in the magazines the journalists work for, but not so much in the magazines which have journalists involved in the alternative awards.
After the winning companies pay a fairly hefty fee to EISA, they are allowed to slap the EISA logo on the relevant product packaging. Presume the same applies with the TIPA awards.
