Two budget superzooms from Canon

Canon has announced two new relatively low-cost superzoom compact cameras, the PowerShot SX520 HS and PowerShot SX400 IS.

520The SX520 (pictured right) has a 42x 24-1008mm equivalent f3.4-6.0 zoom and a 16-megapixel 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor combined with a Digic 4+ processor.

It has an ISO range of 100 – 3200, a 461K-dot LCD screen. Burstr rate is a modest 2fps nand it can shoot 1080p video.

The SX400, has a 16-megapixel CCD sensor and a 30x 24-720mm equivalent f3.4-5.8 lens. It also uses the Digic 4+ processor, has lower sensitivity (1600 ISO) and a low-res 230K-dot screen. It can shoot at a maximum of 1fps and shoots video at 720p.

US pricing is US$399 and US$249 and release is scheduled for August. The 400 model comes in both black and red, the 520 in black only.
