Panasonic has globally announced the Lumix DMC-FZ1000, the latest member of the popular FZ series, available in Australia in July.
Panasonic says the new compact camera boasts the world’s first 4K video recording capability for a camera ‘in its class’, a relatively large-area (1-inch) 20-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS sensor, and a high-quality 16x optical zoom Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens.
The DMC-FZ1000’s sensor is around four times larger than the 1/2.3-inch sensors found in the general run of conventional compact cameras (and some smartphones), which reduces noise and increases low-light/high ISO capability.
No local pricing has been released. US online outlets such as Adorama are taking orders today at a price of US$897.
