Photo Review Mag app links to local retailers

Enthusiast magazine and website Photo Review Australia has launched a new Photo Review Mag app, with a fresh issue available every month delivering trusted advice on everything from buying the right camera gear through to shooting, editing, printing and organising your photos.

The Photo Review Mag App boasts a completely new, fluid layout that allows reading without needing to zoom; the content automatically re-flows according to the reader’s device (tablet or smartphone) – and to their preference of font size – for both portrait and landscape tablet viewing.

Photo Review, as the title implies, reviews more new cameras, lenses and other accessories than any other publication in Australia, and this defining characteristic will be a feature of the monthly mag app, along with independent local buying advice.

Reviews are comprehensive and objective, with cameras and lenses undergoing internationally-recognised benchmarking software tests.

Each product reviewed in the Photo Review Mag has a link to the online version for even more details (eg, camera test charts and sample images). Every review now includes a Buy tab with links to supporting local retailers. While overseas review sites have been leading local enthusiasts to offshore-online retailers, Photo Review supports the local photo specialist retail sector.

‘Our readers tell us that expert reviews on websites and in magazines are their top influences when making purchase decisions, followed by other photographers’ recommendations and user review sites. The new Photo Review Mag app delivers those expert reviews in the new form they have been asking for,’ said Photo Review publisher, David O’Sullivan.

A recent reader survey indicated that Photo Review website’s 70,000+ readers per month are looking for regular photo tips, news and advice in the form of a well edited publication that’s easy to download on their tablet and/or smartphone. They want the information to be useful and independent, and they need the format to be easy to read and navigate.

While many mag apps are simply a mirror image of the print edition in digital form, the Photo Review Mag App boasts a completely new, fluid layout that allows reading without needing to zoom; the content automatically re-flows according to the reader’s device (tablet or smartphone) – and to their preference of font size – for both portrait and landscape tablet viewing.

The popular Photo Challenge photo competition, along with a new Image Review section where readers image’s are assessed, will increase reader involvement; and the print magazine’s highly-regarded Profiles section, in which selected professional and fine art photographers’ work is sumptuously showcased, will complete the monthly offering to Photo Review‘s loyal base of enthusiasts.

Photo Review Mag app features:
– new issue every month;
– content significantly expanded from the print edition;
– more reader involvement via Photo Challenge, Net Effect, and the new Image Review sections;
– focus on how to create great images (which look superb on the back-lit tablet and smartphone screens);
– quick thumbnail navigation to specific content;
– full text indexing for searching specific topics;
– bookmarking and social media sharing;
– in-app purchase of photography ebooks;
– cross platform – available initially for iPad and over the coming months will be available for iPhone and Android tablets and smartphones;
– video content in upcoming issues.

Photo Review Mag app for iPad can be downloaded from iTunes – first issue is free. One-off copies can be purchased for $5.49, with a six-month, six-issue subscription for $27 and a 12-month, 12-issue subscription $50. Click here to go to the subscriptions page.
