Noritsu Green makes the local scene

Noritsu has announced local availability and support for the latest Noritsu dry lab, the QSS Green, with automatic duplex printing and ability to accept a broad selection of paper stocks.

The QSS Green is the latest in the Noritsu family of inkjet minilabs.

The QSS Green’s automatic duplex printing function facilitates production of double-sided high margin products such as photo books and greeting cards. Noritsu Australia has already installed a QSS Green in the local market, specifically for production of high quality, double-sided photo book pages.

In addition, the platen gap – the gap between the print head and the paper – is adjustable, enabling it to process normal paper, cast coat paper and other kinds of sheet paper on the market. One of the limitations of some dry labs on the market is a narrow choice of three or four papers stocks. For example, the QSS can produce increasingly popular metallic-look prints.

Noritsu says that its superior inkjet system results in ‘prints with a quality that is second to none’ with rich colours and smooth tones. The newly-developed, dye-based ink (four colours) used in the QSS Green is designed to withstand the effects of light and ozone, so prints boast excellent lightfastness and long-lasting colours.

The optional automatic duplexing unit enables creation of double-sided greeting cards, photo book pages and other high margin products.

Noritsu’s image processing technology – developed over decades – optimises the image and ensures high quality prints.

The QSS Green can produce HD 1440x1440dpi photographic products, which Noritsu says has the effect of producing a better portrayal of contrast, texture and depth. It enables photo stores to offer a premium level service in addition to ‘standard’ printing at 720×720.

Output is 650 6×4-inch print per hour up to to 280 10x8s.

With an extraordinary maximum advance length of 69.2 inches (1757.7mm), combined with ability to print at up to 10-inches wide, the QSS Green can make prints in an extensive range of sizes to meet a wide variety of needs such as panoramic prints and signage.

Raw file processing

The EZ Controller operational software (sold separately) enables you to easily perform functions such as value-added print creation and print order management, while Noritsu’s image processing technology, AccuSmart, automatically corrects images portraying various scenes, applying a wide range of correction tools such as colour correction, backlit scene correction, noise reduction, lens aberration correction and red-eye removal. Furthermore, the EZ Controller is compatible with Raw image files. EZ Controller in combination with AccuSmart technology enables production of professional-standard, high quality prints from Raw files.

The Noritsu QSS is available in Australia now from $30,000, with annual maintenance contract of $3500 covering all service costs and replacement parts. Consumables will be supplied by IPS (Independent Photo) or Australian Photo Supplies.

Noritsu Australia is currently demonstrating the QSS Green in its Taren Point showroom. To see it in action or to see sample prints, contact Brett Grant brett.grant@noritsu.com
