PMA’s forthcoming industry evenings with Bill McCurry and Canadian specialist retailer Neil McBain (McBain Camera) provides an increasingly rare opportunity for photo retailers and suppliers to get together.
‘It’s an opportunity to network and we’ve found that when we have good speakers we get good member attendance and also get suppliers along,’ said PMA Australia director, Peter Rose. ‘Every time we get good supplier attendance, everyone gets a benefit a out of it.
‘And we’ve got two very relevant speakers in Bill and Neil.
‘Bill is closer to specialist photo on a worldwide basis than anyone else,’ said Mr Rose. ‘He identifies best practice from around the world and enthusiastically shares that knowledge with the local market.
‘Neil will tell us what he has done to bring margins into his business at a time when margins are shrinking. The Canadian market is probably more closely aligned to the Australian experience so Neil’s lessons will be relevant to us here.’
Schedule for the tour is:
Brisbane, Monday April 29, Pig ‘N’ Whistle, Brisbane;
Sydney, May 1, North Ryde RSL;
Melbourne, May 2, State Library of Victoria.
The events run from 6 – 8pm (drinks and canapes from 6 – 6.30) at all venues and attendance is $40 for PMA members and $60 for non-members.
