The new $699 Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom smartphone features a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor, 10x optical zoom lens, Xenon flash – and sends photo printing orders direct to US-based providor, Blurb.
The new Android 4.2-powered Galaxy S4 Zoom will be available in-store next week through selected Samsung retail partners, and at the Samsung Experience Stores in Melbourne and Sydney.
The Galaxy S4 Zoom includes a post-capture photo feature called Story Album, which lets users arrange images and videos into a single timeline so they can easily share content via email or social media channels. Through a collaboration with online photo album service, Blurb, users can also edit images and even order prints directly from the device.
Users can choose from 7 x 7-inch softcover or hardcover, or a 5 x 5-inch softcover exclusively for Samsung Galaxy S4 owners. The Samsung Story Album-Blurb collaboration has been a feature of previous S4 releases, but becomes a more relevant feature given the ‘camera-centric’ nature of this latest release.
During a phone call, the new zoom ring enables users to share photos with the person they are speaking with. The zoom ring is also designed to replace dials and buttons in a smooth, easy-to-operate system for composing an image scene and capturing wide-angle shots or tight close-ups.
‘It is exciting to see a product come into the Australian market that allows users to experience a Galaxy smartphone with the benefits of Samsung’s camera technology. The Galaxy S4 zoom’s ability to capture high quality images can turn quick snaps into precious photos that can be kept, printed and shared for years to come,’ said Craig Gillespie, head of Digital Imaging, Samsung Electronics Australia.
