Smoothee kicks off smartphone accessory category

Australian Photo Supplies has announced local availability of the Steadicam Smoothee, an easy-to-use camera stabiliser for smartphones and GoPro cameras.

The Smoothee comes packaged with a product-specific camera mount, and will have a suggested Australian retail price of $249. It currebntly has mounts that can be used with the GoPro Hero, Apple iPhone 3GS, 4, 4s, or the iPod Touch (Gen 4). Additional mounts will follow.

The Smoothee, developed by Steadicam, a leader in camera stabilising systems, allows smartphone and GoPro camera owners to capture high quality (in most cases, High Definition) video without the shakes normally associated with hand-held video shot on the go on small lightweight devices.

‘The Smoothee received outstanding reviews at the recent Consumer Electronics Show this past January,’ said Shane Martin, director of Sales and Marketing for Australian Photo Supplies.

‘We’re very proud of this incredible new Steadicam and excited that Australian Photo Supplies will be able to make it available for consumers, so that anyone can take great videos the very first time,’ continued Mr Martin.

‘We feel that the Steadicam Smoothee is small and agile enough to take on holidays or follow the action at sporting events. Just attach the camera mount to your device and you’re ready to go! No heavy electronics, battery packs or gyros, just a simple yet precise balancing act from Smoothee’s mere 37cm height.’

The lightweight, agile, and easy-to-use Steadicam Smoothee features an innovative, patented design built around a durable mono-frame metal structure that requires no complicated instructions to begin using.

Each of the individual camera mounts can also serve as a tabletop stand or can be mounted to any tripod with a standard camera mount.

The ergonomic Smoothee hand-grip folds up securely when not in use. Also included with the Steadicam Smoothee is an easy to follow instruction sheet and carrying strap.

The Smoothee will be on display at the APS roadshow, starting this week in Perth. For  more details, click here.
