PMA program strong on online, marketing

PMA has released its 2012 ‘The Digital Conference program, with options ranging from free attendance at keynote sessions for ‘The Digital Show’ badge-holders, through to a ‘one with the lot’ $295 PMA Best Value Pass ($395 non-members).

The program has a strong focus on online retailing and communications: ‘Manage Your Web Content’, ‘Understanding The Digital Online Space’, ‘Unleashing The Power of Social Media’; along with retail marketing: ‘Designing…A Memorable Experience for Shoppers’, ‘How To Create a Memorable Brand’, ‘Database Marketing’.

General Sessions of the conference have been sponsored by IDEA (formerly PICA).

‘The brief was to develop high quality, future-focussed conference sessions, that were of interest to all business owners, to meet today and tomorrows needs,’ PMA director, Peter Rose told Photo Counter.

‘Marketing via social media, development of websites, email data-based marketing and competing with online marketing are a few of the highly relevant sessions that we felt were very necessary in today’s market.

‘We had also been asked to ensure that the program reflected where we are going, rather than where we have been,’ he explained.

Thursday and Friday sessions are under the PMA/DIMA umbrella, while the PIEA (educators), PPFA (framers) and PSPA (schools photographers) share the conference rooms on the Saturday.

Peter Rose said that PMA members should look at the program for the Saturday as some sessions such as ‘Supercharging Your Social Media’ would have broad interest.

‘That is why we have the “best value” registration. It allows conference attendees to take part in all  conference sessions and social activities for the one price,’ he said.

The traditional Thursday evening PMA Sundowner is included as part of the Best Value package or can be purchased for $25 without registering for the conference. Conference-goers are welcome to bring others along, with tickets available ‘on the night’.

‘This is our industry’s chance to learn from some world-class speakers, as well as sharing ideas with our peers ,’ said Mr Rose. ‘I am sure we express similar sentiments each year, however it seems there has never been a more important time to share and learn.

‘We all need to show support for this conference and exhibition, as major organisations worldwide continually evaluate attendances and interest in all events to determine ongoing funding.

‘The trend for the Australian Industry show has been positive for a number of years…it is up to all of us to help continue that growth,’ he concluded.
