PMA offers members course ‘sales commissions’

PMA is offering retailer members who send customers to the forthcoming Jerry Courvoisier/Adobe Lightroom seminar and workshop series a 10 percent sales commission.

‘The commision is  just a booking fee to reward retailers for their efforts,’ said Peter Rose, director, Australian activities, PMA.

PMA members and staff will also be offered discounted places at the events – from $129 down to $100 for the seminars, and $299 down to $249 for the workshops.

PMA is enlisting the support of members in promoting the first of its educational initiatives to consumers. This is a new direction for PMA, which is for the first communicating directly with its members’ customers to help ‘grow the market’.

PMA will also forward flyers and counter cards for in-store promotion of the seminars and workshops.

‘This initiative relies heavily on key PMA members marketing directly to their databases,’ said Mr Rose.

Emails blasts have been sent to PMA members requesting them to forward promotional flyers to their customer database. Those customers who take up the offer will be able to identify their local retailer via the registration process.

The four-hour Adobe Lightroom 4.0 seminar, conducted by Adobe champion Jerry Courvoisier, is sub-headed ‘ Library, Develop, Map, Book, Print and Web’ (and sub-sub-headed ‘Learn to manage your workfow in half the time!’) It covers everything from downloading images from the camera to the PC, through to making photo books and prints.

The one-day workshop similarly focusses on post-capture techniques and processes using Adobe Lightroom 4.0.

‘The primary objective in holding these seminars is for the presenter to be suggesting accessories, lenses, software, etc, that should be purchased to improve the enjoyment of their [attendees’] hobby,’ explained Mr Rose. ‘Lightroom is just the vehicle to get them there.’

He said that the seminars and workshops will be targetting ‘prosumers’ and said there were up to 750,000 of these in Australia.

Mr Rose added that it has workshopped the plans with major PMA members in a series of phone hook ups and meetings:

‘We want to make it work…for all our sakes!’
