April 13, 2011: Australian distributor Garage Brands has announced that Gary Fong, CEO of the eponymous flash accessory specialist, will visit Australia to attend PMA’s Imaging & Entertainment event at Darling Harbour, June 26 – 28.
Mr Fong (pictured right) will be demonstrating the US-made Gary Fong range on the Garage Brands stand, and conducting a series of Masterclass events with customers of the brands’ local authorised resellers.
Gary Fong is an award-winning US wedding/portrait photographer who in 2002, after 20 years in the studio, moved from shooting to developing photographic flash accessories.
His original invention, the Lightsphere light diffuser, was developed as a solution for unflattering images from direct, harsh on-camera flash lighting. It enables photographers to create subtle, studio-quality lighting effects in the field with basic camera-and-speedlite set-ups.
It has sold over 500,000 units worldwide. Fong has since developed variations on the dome-shaped Lightsphere, laying a sound foundation for what’s developed into an innovative accessory business offering retailers good margins.
Garage Brands launched the range in Australia late last year.
Tom Fisher, general manager of Garage Brands, said that as the reseller network of authorised Gary Fong and GearGuard by Gary Fong resellers had grown, so too had sales. He said he was keen to speak with retailers interested in stocking Gary Fong gear.
