Fotofast: One door closes – another opens!

April 7, 2011: After 21 years in the Myer Centre in Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall, Fotofast and Phil Gresham are moving on down the road.

In a report in the Brisbane Courier Mail this week, Mr Gresham cited rent increases and a need for more space as prompting his decision to move the family-operated business to larger, cheaper premises in nearby Adelaide Street.

‘The rent at the moment is outrageous at around $37,000 a month to be here,’ Mr Gresham told the Courier Mail.

‘I’ve got 100 square metres which includes the storage area I’ve rented. Late last year they said another 5 percent.’

The new premises in Adelaide Street will deliver Fotofast 70 percent more room for 20 percent less cost, according to Mr Gresham.

Fotofast will be located on the corner of Albert and Adelaide Street, not far from Ted’s Cameras, Rainer’s Camera House and Harvey Norman.

The extra space will enable Fotofast to offer a bigger product range and install more kiosks in addition to running photo classes and a photo studio.

Fotofast will close the doors of the Queen Street Mall store in early June, with the new concept store scheduled to open on June 13.

COMMENT: Hearty best wishes from Photo Counter to Phil and Will and the rest of the world-class Fotofast team! It’s a very pleasant change to be able to write about a photo specialist closing the store to move on to bigger and better things.
