Ilford acquired by UK investors

April 8, 2010: UK investment group Paradigm Global Partners has announced its acquisition of Ilford Imaging, Switzerland.

Ilford Imaging makes Ilford’s ‘Galerie’ injket paper. It is separate to Ilford Photo which is based in the UK and makes photographic papers under the Harman Photo brand.

Paradigm bought Ilford from equally venerable Japanese paper maker, Oji, which came in to save the brand several years ago.

Paradigm says there is scope for significant future growth and value creation with Ilford, and has approved capital expenditure ‘to move forward a key development in the manufacturing facility in Switzerland.’

‘The last few years have been tough for the imaging business as a whole, including Ilford. This announcement has injected a renewed sense of energy and excitement within the company and provided the business with focus and direction,’ commented Ilford’s chief operating officer, Lars Sommerhauser.

‘We are committed to servicing the global market where there is a demand for the premium quality products that we manufacture, and this will necessitate a strengthening of our business units in the USA and Asia.’

‘Ilford has a reputation for developing and manufacturing the best imaging products in the world, and I believe that with this acquisition the Illford name will continue to be at the forefront of coating and imaging technology for many years to come,’ he concluded.

Ilford Imaging products are distributed in Australia by CR Kennedy.
