Harvey aims for 10 million 9 cent prints

September 30, 2010: Harvey Norman launched one of its regular discount print offers this week, and is believed to be anticipating sales of 10 million 9-cent prints over the nine days of the promotion.

Big W has responded – in some of its stores at least – with a 9 cents print offer of its own.

While the Harvey Norman offer is being advertised heavily on TV, radio and in press, Big W’s 9 cent offer appears to be more of an ad hoc price war-type response, judging by the very basic in-store point of sale. However the offer also popped up today on the Big W website as well, expiring October 6.

The 10 million print sales target is understood to be split between nine million in-store prints and one million online sales, which perhaps gives an indication of the penetration Harvey Norman has achieved over 12 months with its concentrated online marketing campaign of weekly discount offers.

The offer runs until next Monday, October 4, with no limits on quantity.
