December 8, 2010: Epson Australia and Nikon Australia have formed an imaging alliance ‘to develop and market professional products and services to professional photographers.’
This appear to be an eminently logical business move, as both companies have a mutual competitor in Canon with a portfolio of products encompassing professional capture and output. By working together they counter the synergies Canon’s broader product range delivers.
The initiative appears to be local, rather than part of a global strategy.
An Epson spokesperson said one of the objectives of the alliance would be to provide workflow software which improved the interface between Nikon cameras and Epson printers.
Craig Heckenberg, business unit manager for Epson’s Business Solutions Division, said activities under the alliance would include; workflow solutions, educational workshops and seminar programs, and joint marketing and sales promotions.
Photo Counterwas unsuccessful in its attempts to obtain more details from either Nikon or Epson.
