September 8, 2010: Canon Australia has threenew additions to its range of scanners – the CanoScan CS9000F, CanoScan LiDE210, and CanoScan LiDE110.
The CanoScan CS9000F will be of most interest to photographers and photo retailers, with a maximum scanning resolution of 9600dpi.
It will capture a range of film transparencies using a film adaptor that allows more light to penetrate the unit, enabling faster speeds. (Though a single 35mm negative will still take around one minute to scan at high resolution.)
The film handler will take 12 frames of negative film strips, four mounted slides, and will handle medium and large format film up to 6×9 inches.
Additional features such as instant warm-up and the ability to Auto Scan to PC, email, copy or PDF, all at the touch of a button, makes scanning with the CS9000F fast and relatively easy.
There are seven ‘EZ scan’ buttons for one touch operation and the Auto-Scan button automatically recognises the type of original and then scans and saves the files with the suitable settings. In addition, the CS9000F also provides an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) function to convert printed text to editable electronic documents.
Canon’s Film Automatic Retouching and Enhancement (FARE) Level 3 technology, which uses infrared light to scan for physical defects on the film surface, helping remove dust and restore scratched film.
The CanoScan CS9000F is bundled with a suite of software for imaging, creative and business applications. This includes Adobe PhotoShop Elements, ArcSoft PhotoStudio and the SilverFast SE package, which provides photographers with greater control for film scanning. It also comes with MP Navigator EX, which makes operating the scanner and performing complex operations simple and easy.
Canon has added Auto Photo Fix II and Auto Document Fix features, providing the user with control over the output and quality of final images. Auto Photo Fix II resolves common faults like washed-out faces, dull skin tones or over/under-saturated scenery and can ‘recognise’ the type of scene in a photo.
The CanoScan CD9000F has an RRP of $379, while the 4800dpi CanoScan LiDE210 is $159 and the 2400dpi LiDE110 is $129.
